RHEINGAU

The Rheingau area from east to west, the flat landscape with slight ravines evolves towards progressively steeper slopes.  It is a quiet, beautiful and rich in traditions region and despite being one of the smallest wine areas in Germany with only 3,200 hectares this region is considered one of the most distinguished wine regions in the world.  Two grape varieties predominate, the Riesling and the Spätburgunder.

BALTHASAR RESS

ONE OF THE GREATEST WINERIES IN RHEINGAU

Founded in 1870, Balthasar Ress is one of the most important wineries in the Rheingau region, home to some of the best white wines in Germany.

Emerged from the warmth of an old inn (today converted into a hotel and a restaurant), the family firm has a total of 46 hectares of vineyards, planted on slopes facing south, sheltered from the wind, which favors the excellent quality of its Riesling grapes.

The manual selection of the appropriate grapes and a conscientious and unhurried elaboration mean that Balthasar Ress wines are among the most appreciated in the Rheingau region, both by the public and by specialized critics.
